Boise, ID – We had 3 members of the Idaho Committee attend the Idaho AFL-CIO Union Days on February 5-6th, 2025. This is a time where all union members from all different union come together to meet up with the Idaho AFL-CIO to learn about the laws and legislation up for change each year that would or could affect us as union members. It is a great way to speak to your local representative and let them know your concerns. It is also a great way to meet other union members and see what type of issues they are dealing with, within their own companies/union.
We start out day 1 with training to see how to lobby and speak to our representatives and how to get out the information and concerns facing us. For us as IAM members in Idaho, we deal with discipline for using sick leave. We have lobbied now for 3 years, this will be our 4th to get a law to state that if a business offers benefits including sick, vacation, etc. they cannot punish you for using the benefits offered when you were hired.
Lobbying this year seemed to go very well, and we will be continuing checking in while the legislative session is still in.
